TEFaQ / TEF French Language Assessment

The TEF can be taken at POINT3 Language Center.  It is an official test of the French language used to determine a non-francophone person’s level of proficiency in the language.  This is the official Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris proficiency test.

The results of the test are individual and are validated by an official document that attests the linguistic and communicational objectives achieved. The test also allows candidates to validate their level of written and comprehension skills.

There is no “pass” or “fail” grade in the TEF.  It is an achievement test.

The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris presents a certificate that is recognized in the business world as well as by the “Education Nationale” (the French Ministry of Education).  The results of the TEF are recognized by certain French universities, and may also assist in finding employment where knowledge of the French language is required.

The TEF is also recognized by the Ministry of Immigration and Cultural Communities of Quebec (Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC) du Québec) as a test that determines the abilities of the French language skills for candidates interested in immigrating to Quebec.

 Why Take the TEFAQ?

The Test d’Évaluation de Français adapté au Québec (TEFAQ) is recognized by the Ministère de l’Immigration et des Communautés culturelles (MICC) du Québec for official applications to immigrate to Quebec.  The MICC will also take into consideration results of the TEF however; the elective Oral Expression test must also be taken. Another advantage of the TEFAQ is that in some cases, employers may use the results of the TEFAQ in their hiring process to evaluate your French language skills.
